Afternoon Tea at the Lansdowne hotel

Tea with a view

Afternoon Tea  at the Lansdowne hotel in Eastbourne was a delightful experience. We sampled it on the Sunday of the Airbourne air show. We were seated inside but next to a large window which gave us an excellent view of the planes (we had made a reservation; a party who arrived as a 'walk-in' could only be offered a table further inside).

The staff were extraordinarily attentive. We ordered four types of drinks (green tea, Earl Grey, coffee, and decaff coffee) and they all came in large teapots or cafetieres. We were assured we could have more drinks and they regularly (but not intrusively - we had the table for over two hours, without being hurried) checked to see if we wanted more.

Each of us was given a wonderful slice of sausage roll, four sandwiches including salmon, a cheese and pickle, and ham, a plain scone and a fruit scone (with lashings of cream and butter and jam), three small cakes and a macaroon. I was stuffed by the end.

The whole experience cost £24.90 per person which seemed like a very reasonable price for the experience.

Super food and super service.
