This group of six talented musicians played two sets of Beach Boys (and Brian Wilson) songs including all the classic hits and a few that were less well known.
I have always enjoyed the upbeat fun of the music of the Beach Boys but the BBB made me realise the intricacies of their music. It wasn’t just the clever vocal harmonies. The clever use of rhythm and the careful shifts of key were outstanding. Thanks to the BBB, I reevaluated the music of the Beach Boys and realised why so many place them among the top groups of their time, and of all time.
This is, I think, a tribute to the exceptional skills of this tribute group. They are returning to the Grove in January to play the music of David Bowie and I for one hope to be there.
